This is NOT a Hoax! This is a true miracle! A Personal Chef in California cut a potato in half and the symbol of a perfectly shaped holy cross appeared. The Holy Potato will go on Pilgrimage Journey to Salzburg, Austria.
It was 7:30 PM, December 4th, 2005. The second Sunday of advent, in Joshua Tree, California. Personal Chef Karin Winkler started to prepare dinner. While thinking about upcoming Christmas, she was peeling and cutting a potato. Everything appeared to be normal. When she was peeling and cutting the second potato in half, a miracle happened: the symbol of a perfectly shaped holy cross appeared on both halves of the potato.
"I am cooking potatoes for 35 years now, but I have never seen something like this in my whole life!" Winkler said. She feels very blessed that this has happened to her and she truly believes that this is a special sign for the world to pursue peace. She sees the potato as a symbol of the world and the cutting of it's hidden cross in two perfectly shaped halves as a sign of God to love each other, be happy and unite!
The word advent means "coming" or "arrival". It is marked by a spirit of expectation, of anticipation, of preparation, of longing. Many people take the appearances of crosses as a sign of divine promise, believing they signify the return of Christ.
Winkler, who wants to keep her spiritual beliefs private, says she gave the potato as an important gift to her son Roman who is awaiting the birth of his first son at the beginning of the new year. Roman asked his mother to auction off The Holy Potato for him and his son on eBay, starting the auction on the third Sunday of advent, December 11, 2005, at 7:30 PM. She started the auction at only 17 Cents, because this was what she originally paid for The Holy Potato. The initial auction #5646122178 was pulled off by eBay after Winkler placed an email communication with a well known Canadian based Casino - which expressed a definite interest in The Holy Potato - on the item's auction page. Winkler then relisted and asked $ 1,700 as initial bid for The Holy Potato in hopes to scare away the casino. Fiftyfive people had The Holy Potato auction on their eBay watch list, more than 4000 people viewed the auction ad and more than 40,000 people visited The Holy Potato web site. On the fourth Sunday of advent, December 18, 2005, 22 hours before auction closing, Winkler got worried about the future of The Holy Potato and she ended this eBay listing early because the item is no longer available for sale..
Winkler says: "The Holy Potato needs to go around the world and visit religious leaders to get advice on how it can contribute to bring more love and happiness into this world!"
